Literature Text

This is really just some super dorky fluff I wrote a little while ago for a friend of mine. It probably belongs in scraps, because it's not really anything, but apparently I was in need of fluff and cake when I wrote it. Here it is, anyway.

LINK'S POV
I roll over, reaching an arm out and running my hand along the sheets beside me. I groan sleepily, and it takes me a moment before I realise that there is nobody here with me. I sit up in a panic, my eyes instantly wide open and scanning the room, a thousand thoughts running through my mind that something might have happened and that Ghirahim might be gone...
My head finally stops spinning when I hear a familiar humming coming from down the hallway. I sigh a sigh of relief, before putting a hand to my head and allowing myself to fall back into the pile of pillows sitting behind me. I hear footsteps- Ghirahim's, no doubt- coming up the hallway, and quickly curl up in the blankets, pretending to be asleep.

GHIRAHIM'S POV
I'm humming quiet songs to myself as I wander up the hallway, carrying an elegant cake which I took upon myself to prepare for my Sky Child. I'm positively giddy with excitement as I spin on my heel and turn into the bedroom, placing the delicately designed cake on the bedside table.
I sit on the edge of the bed, beside Link, and admire him before I wake him. His face appears so relaxed when he sleeps, as if there's nowhere he'd rather be.
After a few moments I decide it's about time I do wake him. I brush several strands of hair from his face with one hand, allowing myself to take one more glance at his beautiful face before leaning down and murmuring in his ear.
"Link, my love... Rise and shine."
I kiss his forehead as he begins to stir, and he opens his eyes, looking up at me with a tired smile. I smile back at him, and he sits up, immediately wrapping his arms around my waist. Before I speak again, he pulls away and rudely interrupts my thoughts-
"You left me," he says accusingly. I place two fingers underneath his chin and pull his face to mine, kissing him softly before he can say anything more.
"Happy birthday, Link," I say, my words almost a whisper. He shuffles forward and hugs me again, burying his face in my chest. I hear him thank me with muffled words before he sits up again and I reach out for the cake, holding it until he adjusts himself so I can sit it on his lap.
I light the candles in front of him, (I didn't want any wax dripping on the cake before he saw it), and sing Happy Birthday before he blows them out.
We pull out the candles together, resting them on the side of the tray, and he admires the intricately patterned icing. He's smiling ear to ear, with cheeks a pale shade of pink as he looks back up to me.
"Thank you, Ghirahim. I love it."
I can't help but kiss him again when he says this, and my heart flutters when he kisses me back, pressing his soft lips eagerly against mine. He pulls away and smiles again.
"I love you," I finally reply, putting the cake on the table so I can pull him in closer.
"I love you, too."
He pecks me on the cheek and climbs into my lap, resting his head lightly on my chest while he eyes the cake with little subtlety.
"So," he begins, "are you going to let me eat some now? Or are we having breakfast first?"
He looks up at me with a childish pout, as if I never let him have his way. I sigh at him.
"Link, you know as well as I do that the idea of cake for breakfast is absurd," I tease, looking down at him. I take his hand and he obliges as I lead him down the hallway and to the dining room, where, with minimal help from bokoblins, I had previously laid out a large table with as many different foods as you could possibly imagine.
I cover Link's eyes before we enter the room, and when I remove my hands I could swear he almost squeals with delight. He turns around and thanks me again, going to take a seat at the table. I sit beside him and hand him a plate. He doesn't hesitate to dig in, and I eat a small amount myself. As much as I'd love to pile my plate high over and over again, I really need to be watching my butt lately. Not that I don't still look fabulous as ever. It's merely a caution.

LINK'S POV
I'm enthralled when I see the effort Ghirahim has gone to, setting out such a huge breakfast like this. He barely picks at his food while I'm shovelling forkful by forkful into my mouth, so I quickly take a break to pile an extra helping of pancakes onto his plate. He shoots me a look but eats it anyway, smiling to himself.
When we're finally finished, he takes out both of our plates, not even directing his dumb bokoblins to do it. Come to think of it, I haven't seen a single bokoblin today. I assume he's sent them away just for me, and I couldn't be more thankful.
When he returns he brings out a different cake, and kisses my forehead as he places it on the table before me. It's decorated with white icing and cream, and flawless black script reads Happy birthday, Sky Child. I hug him again and mumble into his chest.
"I love you."
"I love you," he replies.
He wraps his arms around me, and I hug him tighter.
There's really no place I'd rather be.
Sloppily written for this dork: :iconxaffnros:
